Sometimes a great hot sauce starts with a craving. Hughlicious Original Chipotle Hot Sauce began when Richmond’s Hugh Mosher found himself missing the smoky chipotle wings from a local sports bar that had closed. He started experimenting with his own recipe, eventually finding the right balance of smoky chipotle peppers and sweet honey.
For two years, Hugh gave his sauce away to friends until they convinced him it was too good not to sell. In 2015, he bottled his first batch and Hughlicious, originally known as Damn Yankee Chipotle Hot Sauce, made its way into Richmond restaurants. Today, the Original is still the sweet, smoky sauce that started it all.
